After majoring in philosophy at Sophia University, she studied film editing at the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School. She directed ‘reborn’, one of the segments in the omnibus film ‘Girls of the 21st Century’. Her independent film ‘For Rei’ was screened at the Osaka Asian Film Festival and TAMA NEW WAVE. For her feature-length debut, ‘White Flowers And Fruits’, she served as director, editor and screenwriter, and the film was invited to numerous film festivals both in Japan and abroad, including the New Directors section at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Whilst characterised by delicate character portrayals and serene visual expression, her work also possesses a commercial aesthetic and sense of rhythm.
